I’m picky about the small stuff, and always strive for perfection. I’m always up for trying new things, digging for new approaches, and bettering my game. I like to keep my code clean, organized, and easy to work with. I’m confident in my quality and what I have to offer.
Aside from a passion for my work, my other passions involve carving down slopes at high speeds, court and beach volleyball, and anything to do with cooking or food (gluten-free!).
As UI Developer for the Media Innovation & Technology team within the CBC Revenue Group at the CBC (there’s a mouthful!), I work on an assortment of projects ranging from user-generated contest sites, to sponsored micro-sites, to widgets that live globally on CBC.ca.
Working for CBC has strengthened my understanding of web accessibility in order to reach as large an audience as possible. Progressive enhancement, and graceful degradation are key strategies that emphasize accessibility; these strategies now shape every project I’m involved with.
Venture Communications is a national, independent marketing communications firm, headquartered in Calgary with an office in Toronto.
As Front-end Developer within the interactive team, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a variety of small-to-large-scale projects for many well-known companies such as Toyota Canada, Warner Music Canada, Husky, Rexall, Wind Mobile, and more. Working for Venture, a company recognized by Deloitte & Touche, CIBC and the National Post as one of the 50 Best Managed Companies in Canada, has helped shape and discipline my abilities around meeting hard deadlines and handling a fast-paced environment. Throughout my time with Venture, my skill-set has been highly developed and refined; I’ve matured as a developer, and my confidence in my work has grown exponentially.
Lifecapture Interactive Inc. was an award winning interactive agency that helped clients identify and use digital channels to drive audience and build loyal relationships with their customers.
I was fortunate enough to be hired on full-time at Lifecapture following a two-month internship as part of my curriculum in the Multimedia Production and Design Technician Program at Humber College. From my first day as a Front-end Developer I started learning a lot, very quickly; the people at Lifecapature were critical to my professional development. Throughout my time with Lifecapture I gained experience in other aspects of online digital media such as email marketing and SEO.
Lifecapture was acquired by Venture Communications as of March 2009.
Award: President’s Letter for highest academic standing in the Multimedia Design and Production Technician program.
The program’s curriculum provided me with the foundation I needed to enter the development community. The program exposed me to many areas of digital media including HTML/CSS development, Flash development, web design, video production and post-production, and audio editing.
Acquiring a rich taste of each medium, a growing passion for development, and a heavy emphasis on portfolio development within the program lead to my internship with Lifecapture during my final semester.
